How much is your customer worth?

How much is your customer worth?

Knowing what an average customer spends is very different to understanding what they are worth in terms of Lifetime Value.  Understanding Lifetime Value can help you understand customer behaviour can help with retention and allows you to spend more of your budget on acquiring higher Lifetime Value customers. Average Customer Spend Working out what an average customer spends is a fairly simple equation.  Take how many customers have purchased your goods or services and divide by net profit omitting any marketing costs. e.g.   10 customers, $500 on marketing with a net profit of $1,000 is an average worth of $100 per customer (1500 -500/10=100). Lifetime Value Equation When looking at […]

Working from home has many benefits including flexibility around family commitments, saving commuting time, being more productive and much more. I love working from home but am constantly asked how I manage my time and still achieve what I need to when there are so many distractions.  Here are a few of my tips that have helped me, and hopefully they may assist you as well.   1. Space Find a space that is your office and create a work environment around it whether it’s the garage, a spare room, your bedroom or the dining room.  Ensure there is enough room for you to do what you need to and […]

The difference between Marketing Plans and Business Plans Business Plans and Marketing Plans sound the same, but there is a difference and if you plan correctly you will benefit from the results. All businesses should have a Business Plan which lays out objectives and how these will be met.  It should be assessed on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis with your Business Advisor, Financial Planner or Accountant depending on the size of your business.  The content of a business plan should include some of the following: Objectives – Growing, selling, expanding.Financial – P&L, Turnover, budgets.Systems – Database, website platform, emails.Employees – Recruitment, TrainingClients – existing and desiredSales – Methods […]

Business Cards

Business Cards

Do you use business cards in your organisation? Most companies still use them and if you are a business owner you should definitely think about having them. Business Cards can sometimes be the first impression people have of your company therefore they should reflect what the organisation stands for.  There is no need to over complicate the cards with elaborate design and over use of text.  Often simple can work best. If you’re providing a service, it needs to represent the type of service people should expect to receive – sleek, professional, different, simple. The same applies if it’s a product. Replicate the standard of the product or service in the […]

Radio Advertising

Radio Advertising

My local radio station is currently running a campaign slamming online marketing and websites, saying that people don’t relate to a brand well through this.  They are instead promoting radio advertising, surprise, surprise!  I find this kind of approach odd for a couple of reasons. Firstly, why can’t we use radio to drive customers online?  After all 94% of consumers will research a business online prior to making a purchase, so surely there needs to be an online presence of some kind? Secondly, surely they would gain more by suggesting integrated campaigns, which many businesses use to gain maximum exposure and generate additional sales. Lastly, it’s sending out a completely wrong […]

Great deal or lack of customer loyalty? July 30, 2012 Comments are off

I’ve recently signed up with a few deal sites such as Living Social, Spreets and Cudo and everyday I’m inundated with deals. In the past week alone, I’ve contemplated driving up to the Sunshine Coast for PADI course, Taking up Ballet, Going to Port Douglas for an all inclusive 4 day break (the free food tempted me) and having a Microdermabrasion and Glycolic Peel although I’m still not 100% what this actually is. Since signing up I have purchased vouchers for restaurants, hair salon, an educational course and a couple of others.  However every time I purchase a voucher I can’t help but wonder how the businessess I would ordinarily use, are being effected.  […]
